Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 May 2026
Spotly ("Spotly," "we," "us") helps families discover kid-friendly places, plan outings, and keep the memories they make. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Spotly to keep your family's information private by default.
- We collect only what we need to find places near you, run your account, and store the memories you choose to save.
- Your photos and memories are private to your family by default.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- You can request a copy of your data or delete your account at any time.
1. Who we are
Spotly is operated by [Legal Entity Name], located at [Company Address]. For any privacy question, contact us at privacy@meetspotly.com.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, or your Apple/Google sign-in identifier; display name | To create and secure your account |
| Family profile | Parent name(s); a child's first name (optional) and age or age range | To recommend age-appropriate places |
| Location | Approximate or precise device location, or a city you choose | To show kid-friendly places near you (only with your permission) |
| Photos & memories | Photos you add to a place, captions, dates, the places you save and visit | To build your private gallery, memory map, and albums |
| Bookings | Date, time, party size, and any notes you provide for a reservation | To make a reservation at a partner place |
| Purchases | Subscription status and album orders (shipping address for printed albums) | To provide Spotly Plus and fulfil printed albums |
| Device & usage | App version, device type, basic diagnostics, and limited usage events | To keep the app working and improve it |
We do not ask for payment card numbers. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google; album and booking payments are processed by our payment provider, who handles your card details directly.
3. How we use your information
- Provide and personalize the app — curated "this week" picks tuned to your kids' ages, location, and interests.
- Save the spots, plans, photos, and trips you choose to keep, and build your memory map.
- Process bookings with partner places and orders for printed albums.
- Send you reminders and service messages you've enabled (e.g., before an outing).
- Keep Spotly secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the app you signed up for), consent (e.g., location access and push notifications, which you can withdraw anytime), legitimate interests (to secure and improve Spotly), and legal obligation.
5. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run Spotly:
- Service providers (processors) who work on our behalf, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, and notifications), our payment provider, and our album print-and-ship partner.
- Partner places you book with — they receive the reservation details you submit.
- Legal & safety — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and our service.
- Business transfer — if Spotly is involved in a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Your photos & memories
Photos and memories you add are stored privately for your family and are not shared publicly by Spotly. If you order a printed album, the photos you include are shared with our print partner solely to produce and ship your book.
7. Children's privacy
Spotly is intended for parents and guardians, not for children. You must be at least 16 (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. Spotly is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Any information about a child (such as a first name or age) is entered by a parent to personalize recommendations, is optional, and is stored privately. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (e.g., for tax or legal reasons).
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure (Google Firebase) — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data.
10. International transfers
Spotly operates globally, and your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.
11. Your rights & choices
- Access, correct, or delete your data, and request a copy (portability).
- Withdraw consent for location or notifications anytime in your device settings.
- Delete your account from within the app or by emailing us.
- If you're in the EEA/UK you may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. If you're in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and delete, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them.
To exercise any right, email privacy@meetspotly.com.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
